 About Us

 New to SSEFC?

Visitors are always welcome at South Suburban!  Whether you're just beginning to explore the church scene, or you have been a part of another denomination and are looking for a new church home, we welcome and encourage you to join us for a morning of inspirational worship. We welcome people of all ages, races, nationalities, ethnic groups, and whatever your place in life.

ARRIVING HERE

Church Building Directions.  We are east of the MN Zoo on Johnny Cake Ridge Road.  Check our directions and map for help.  There is plenty of free parking available. We have a number of handicap parking spaces in front of the main doors.

Worship Times.  We have a service at 8:15 and a service at 11:00 a.m., with classes for all ages and a time of  fellowship between those two services.

Handicap Accessibility.  The building is fully wheelchair-accessible via curb ramps, interior ramps, and an elevator. There are no stairs to our sanctuary.  The worship songs and hymns are projected onto a large screen for easy viewing.

Welcome Center.  When you first arrive, you may want to visit our Welcome Center located just inside the main doors.  There you can pick up building maps, church information packets, and info on current activities and events.  There is always someone there to answer any questions you may have.

Nursery.  If you have small children, ages 0-2yrs, you may want to take them to our trained caretakers while you are attending the service.  However, you may certainly have your children remain with you in the sanctuary.  The nursery is located down the main hall in our education wing.  It is a secure facility, staffed by loving caretakers who have been properly background checked.  Children and parents are given pagers and matching badges that are checked when leaving the facilities.

ATTENDING A SERVICE

Our ServiceWhat to Wear. We care about you - not your clothes. Typically people dress in business casual to casual.

Ushers. Ushers are available at every service to greet you with a smile, help you find a seat (or feel free to seat yourself) or answer questions you may have.  All ushers wear nametags, so they are easy to spot.

Sunday Bulletin.
Be sure to pick up a bulletin handed out by the ushers before every service.  It contains the service order, sermon notes, and information on events and ministries. Feel free to fill out the tear off prayer card if you have a need or prayer request.   We are here to help you.

Bibles Available. We encourage attenders to bring and use their own Bibles, however there are Bibles available in the pews as well to help you follow along with the sermon.

Let Us Know You are Here. Once you are seated, be sure to fill out your name and address in what we call the “Friendship Register” at the end of the row. This is one of the initial ways of our being able to get to know you. We do not give out the information or bombard you with mailings.

Worship through Music.  The service begins with songs of praise and adoration to God.  Pastor Smith and the band or choir help lead you into really feeling the presence of the Lord as we sing about Him and to Him.  You will hear a variety of styles of music, from traditional hymns to contemporary or gospel rhythms.

Worship through God's Word.  Pastor Coe delves into Scripture to reveal important Biblical truths and how they apply to our lives today.  His clear, concise messages help us learn how to deal and cope with life's daily battles.

Worship through Giving. We do pass an offering plate to give financially to the church and to further God’s Kingdom. Do not feel obligated to give, especially if you are just visiting.

GETTING CONNECTED
Usher GreetingIf you've attended awhile and are looking to get more connected, there are several ways to build a relationship with us.  We would love to get to know you better.

Attend Regularly.  People get to know who you are when they see you on a regular basis.

Reach Out.  Reach out and greet others yourself; for example, "I don't know your name. I am new here."  Don't always wait for someone to say something to you.

Fellowship Hour.  Join us for refreshments on Sunday mornings in our Fellowship Hall.  This is a great way to stike up conversations, learn about what's going on, and plain and simply - eat.

New Connections Class.  You're invited to join others "in the same boat" in our New Connections class on Sunday mornings.  You'll learn more about our vision and ministries as Pastor Coe shares the dynamics that make our church unique.  Contact Pastor Coe to find out when the next meeting is scheduled.

GROWING
There are several ways that South Suburban can help you grow as a Christian, dig deep into Scriptures, and establish meaningful relationships.

Adult Bible Fellowships.  Join our large study groups on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.  There are several classes to fit your life's current needs. Check the bulletin when you arrive for class decriptions and locations.

Small Groups.   Our Small Groups provide a smaller, more personal study setting.  They consist of five to seven singles, couples, or family units that usually meet in homes. You'll have an opportunity for in-depth fellowship and friendships. It is a place to bear burdens, celebrate victories, give and receive inspiration, and to help you live up to God's best.

Precept Upon Precept.  Join our in-depth Bible Study on Monday evenings.  Learn how to study the Bible using the inductive study method.  Lessons are completed in advance and then discussed once a week in dynamic, interactive but comfortable settings with others.
